Company History
Heli-One was created by CHC Helicopter Corporation ("CHC") to unite the experience and facilities CHC had acquired, so those services could be extended to third party customers.
CHC's founding companies have been in operation for more than 50 years, and since the beginning have been self supported or supported through companies now known as Heli-One. This translates into more than 50 years experience for Heli-One, supporting helicopters in challenging environments all over the world.
Major milestones that have contributed to Heli-One's formation and development into the world's largest independent helicopter support organization include:
August 1999 CHC acquires "Helicopter Service Group" (HSG). The repair and overhaul section of the company is used to create "Astec Helicopter Services." Astec evolves into Europe's largest repair and overhaul company, with major facilities in Norway and the UK.
"Overhaul International" of Adelaide, Australia (a part of "Lloyd Helicopters", which in turn was a part of HSG) is also obtained as part of the HSG acquisition. Overhaul International specializes in Bell 212 and Bell 412 repair and overhaul.
August 2004 CHC acquires "Multifabs Survival Limited," based in Aberdeen, Scotland. The company is used to form "Survival One" to provide survival clothing and safety equipment to the aviation industry.
February 2004 CHC acquires "Schreiner Aviation Group" of Norway. Schreiner is known as the leading offshore helicopter services company in the Dutch sector of the North Sea, with impressive heavy maintenance capabilities.
September 2004 CHC builds a Sikorsky component shop in Vancouver, Canada to help support the CHC fleet.
September 2004 CHC acquires "Aero Turbine Support" (ATS) of Langley, Canada. ATS is known as a world leader in CT58 and T58 engine overhaul services.
February 2005 CHC launches "Heli-One" by uniting all its acquired facilities to create one independent company. Heli-One's global headquarters are established in Vancouver, Canada.
November 2006 Heli-One acquires "Heli-Dyne Systems Inc." located in Texas, USA. Heli-Dyne brings extensive modification and completion capabilities and an impressive portfolio of experience.
May 2007 CHC divests the non-core operating unit "Survival One" which provides safety and survival equipment to the aviation industry.
January 2008 Heli-One's purpose built, state-of-the-art facility in Delta, Canada opens. The facility is more than 234,000 square feet, giving Heli-One the additional capacity required to continue expanding. The new facility represents an investment of more than CDN $30M.
